Meipiao started with just a simple question: How can I help?

Living in New York City, Jason witnessed many things he found unjust in his community — one being that many youth are unable to chase their dreams due to finances.

Why wasn’t Billy allowed to join the school sports team just because he couldn’t afford the uniform? Why was Joan unable to practice drawing because her family didn’t have the money for art supplies? Why does any child have to be hindered by a situation beyond their control?

Meipiao’s mission is to sponsor these children — those whose families cannot afford to — and provide them with the funding to pursue their hobbies, interests, and passions. We hope that the sponsorship will help the low-income, under-served immigrant population in our community, as they too deserve equitable access to resources and opportunities needed to succeed.

However, Meipiao is not only serving as a sponsor, but also as an empowering platform for Asian American youth to connect and inspire through the sharing of their stories, dreams, and aspirations.
